Day 1 Yangon Arrival
Welcome to Yangon and the start of your Myanmar holiday! Your guide and driver will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in before commencing sightseeing. You will be introduced to Myanmar culture and traditions with your first visit to Botahtaung Pagoda, a glittering riverside stupa that is always busy with worshippers. Continue to Chauktatgyi Pagoda which is home to a massive reclining Buddha with intricate carvings on its feet. Towards the end of the day, visit the famous Shwedagon Pagoda where you will walk around the 99-metre gilded stupa as the light of day fades in to darkness. (Meals: Lunch)
Day 2 Yangon – Bagan
An early morning flight takes you to Bagan, Myanmar, where more than 2000 religious monuments are scattered around a riverside plane. You will first visit a colorful market where locals come to buy and sell fresh produce and other items. Then travel to some of the most famous pagodas such as Htilominlo, Shwezigon, Dhamayangyi and Ananda. Your knowledgeable guide will provide you with historical, architectural and cultural information about these monuments. You will also have time to visit a lacquerware workshops to see the skilled craftsmen create beautiful bowls, plates and other items. In the early evening, travel to an elevated temple or viewpoint to capture the sunset over Bagan. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 3 Bagan – Mandalay
The third day of your Myanmar tour takes you to Mandalay, the country’s last royal capital. You will start sightseeing directly after landing starting with a drive to Amarapura, another former capital. This charming town is known for its high quality hand-woven fabrics and you will have a chance to visit one of the weaving workshops to learn more about this process. Then visit U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge which links the villages on either side of Thaungthanman Lake. Continue to the city center to visit Shwe Nandaw Kyaung, an impressive teak building that is the only structure remaining from the city’s Royal Palace. The next site is Kuthodaw Pagoda where hundreds of marble slabs are engraved with Buddhist scripture, earning it the title as ‘World’s Largest Book’. Should you wish, you can visit the top of Mandalay Hill at sunset for panoramic views over the city and the Irrawaddy River. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 4 Mandalay – Heho- Inle Lake
Travel to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar’s most beautiful natural sites. First you will take a flight to the town of Heho followed by a one-hour drive to Nyaung Shwe where you will board a private boat for a full day excursion on Inle Lake. You will pass by entire villages built upon stilts, floating farms growing crops such as tomatoes and fishermen who use their legs to row their boats. Visit the famed Phaung Daw Oo pagoda, the old wooden Nga Phe Kyaung monastery and craft workshops making traditional goods. In the early evening you will reach your lakeside hotel for check in. (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch)
This morning transfer to the Heho airport for the domestic flight to Yangon. A car and driver will be at your disposal for additional sightseeing or shopping before going to the international airport to check in for your onward flight.
